Sligo Tennis Club Coach and Director of Tennis is Daire Heffernan. He has been successfully organising and implementing the tennis programme in the club since September 2020.

Daire is from Rosslare Harbour in Co.Wexford and has been coaching in the sports industry for the past 4 years. Daire successfully completed a Bsc Honours in Strength and Conditioning at IT Carlow in 2017 before moving on to do an internship with Tennis Ireland where he focused on the development of Irelands national academy players, and gaining an insight into the training methods of some of the nation’s strongest players.

Daire then moved to Canada in 2018 to work at one of the largest and most successful tennis academies in Western Canada. At this academy, he learned from some of the greatest coaches in Canada, implementing a system that has produced provincial and national champions, as well as players who have consistently competed on the ITF junior circuit.

Daire is an ambitious and enthusiastic coach who provides a fun and progressive coaching programme designed to take the tennis player from the fundamentals of the sport right through to the elite levels of the game.
