Weekly Club Night Doubles
Monday – Thursday; 7.30pm – 9.30pm (winter); Entry Fee €5; Monday & Wednesday – Ladies Doubles; Tuesday & Thursday – Men’s Doubles.
The list for each Club Night goes up on the Tennis Notice Board 1 week in advance. The Club Nights operate on a first come first served basis, so it is advisable to put your name down at the Club Night the previous week! Players are asked to arrive 15 mins before play begins, and the Organiser will have arranged partners and matches.
Friday Night Mixed Doubles
Friday; 7.30pm; No list – just turn up and play!
Bank Holiday & Festive Mixed Doubles
From January 1st to St. Stephen’s Day, members can enjoy a Mixed Doubles Event, usually 3pm – 5pm (times may vary). The lists go up on the Tennis Notice Board well in advance of the Event to ensure everyone who wishes to, has the opportunity to play.
Spring League & Autumn/Winter League
Spring League: January – April; Autumn/Winter League – September/October – December; Sunday Mornings; Duration 11/2 Hours (Play alternates between 9.30am and 11am); Ladies, Men’s & Mixed Doubles; Entry Fee €15
The lists for the Sunday Morning Leagues go up on the Tennis Notice Board a number of weeks in advance of commencing. There is normally 3 Sections involved. Players will be put into a Section, and will play doubles with and against others in the Section over the course of the League. Players do not play every week and the Schedule is communicated in advance of commencement. Weekly times are communicated 5-7 days in advance.
Mixed Singles Ladder
Summer Singles Ladder: May – October; Winter Singles Ladder: October – April; Entry Fee €10
Players are put in a group of four, in accordance with playing level. Players play each of the three other players in in group within a 4 – 6 week period (4 in Summer & 6 in Winter). Players organise their own matches, and play for points in a League format. Like a ladder you move up and down the league depending on your results.
The Club Championships is the highlight of the Tennis Calendar and determines the Club Champions at all levels, in Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles. This is annual Club Event, and takes place the second week of September, over seven days Sunday to Saturday. Midweek matches commence at 6pm.
West of Ireland Tennis Open Championships
The West of Ireland Tennis Open Championships has a long history in Sligo. It is an annual event, taking place over the 3 days of the May Bank Holiday. The Tournament sees players entering from all parts of the country, in Singles, Doubles and Mixed competitions. It is always great to see the large numbers of Sligo Tennis Club members playing in the Event, with plenty of successes. The 2018 Ladies ‘A’ Singles West of Ireland Champion is Sligo Tennis Club member Cliona Walsh!
Other Events and Competitions, including Ladies Day and Charity Events, that take place during the year are communicated to members, with plenty of notice!
